Following a 21 year career in aerospace engineering at British Aerospace PLC and Pratt & Whitney Canada, I decided to make my hobby of wildlife conservation my full time passion. Leaving corporate life, I realized that my vacation time experience of volunteering on conservation projects in Africa left many holes in my understanding of conservation policy and the practicalities of implementing conservation strategies in the field. So I went back to school. First completing a Diploma in Environment at the McGill School of Environment then, wanting to focus on people-protected area interactions, I completed a PhD in Human Geography in the Department of Geography at McGill. Today I am an Affiliate Member of the Department of Geography at McGill University and an Adjunct Lecturer in the Department of Geography at the University of Vermont.
